10 days later.

Hey. My birthday was cool. If you were there, you know, if you weren't and we talk you've probably asked me about it by now so you know. If you haven't, you're dead to me. :)

So at what is pretty much the close of summer I've decided to let you in on my super summer slams playlist. It's dope. Some of the songs are kinda moody like a long hot summer day and some are fun, energetic, poppy, or all of those things.

I put all the songs on media fire in an AAC file but have since realized that if you aren't a frequent blogosphere downloader, you might not have the converter. If you want any of the songs that i've posted, then just give me a shout (we're probably acquaintances on facebook) and i'll put the song up. Hell you know what, I'll just put them all up now. I'm sitting in the Ritchie center enjoying the over-airconditioned arena and I'm quite comfortable. Plus, the DU internet is currently uploading my shit at 6000 kb/s. That's pretty fast.

***edit*** i'm not user pro so I can't put a 349 mb file on their site. So individual files we go...

I'll put them in two files (cause I don't think I can have just one file full of the same 390some meg of music goldenness.

I'll list all the songs and put the link at the bottom. I'm doing this for those of you that like listening to music enough to just put it on for a while and jam. Also, there are probably some songs you will not like. I put stuff in here that I think characterize summer, not things I think everyone in the world should love at first listen.

I didn't end up leaving to go backpacking/camping today cause max and grant needed to finalize their lease. Now they + john and nick have a house though so it was worth it. We'll leave tomorrow to get a good start on the hike into Indian Peaks Wilderness. Thankfully, my chest cavity still hurts quite alot when I wake up, so the trip should be just as enjoyable as last time. Maybe I should actually get an x-ray. Bottom line, don't bike when you're tired.

When we get back on wednesday I'm going to dig into Anthony's $1 Pizza $1 Beer. I'm excited for that.

Nothing else is really going on. I have, however, discovered that going downtown to the hot spots in Denver sucks. I went to Lodo's last night for my friend Will's 22nd and I'm glad I got to see him but the spot was pretty lame. Way too many people, way way way too many drunk people, and terrible music. I'll just have to wait until tuesday after next to go find the cool dives with the bike crew at loops. They always go to bars and I'm sure they know the good (and cheap) ones.

Super Summer Slams Pt. 1

Playlist:
In For The Kill - La Roux
Lisztomania - Phoenix
Night Drive With You (Grum Remix) - Anoraak
Night Watcher - Alan Braxe
Lost Ones - Lauryn Hill
Toulon - Terje Bakke
Going Down - DJ Lobsterdust
Into The Nightlife (Soulseekers Version) - Cyndi Lauper
You know what? I don't want to type all this out. It's still nice out and I'd rather be picking up supplies for the trip tomorrow or something. You figure it out. Most of the title of the song is on the file name on mediafire and if you want to know what the song sounds like before downloading it just use Hypem or Youtube or something.

Super Summer Slams Pt. 2

enjoi the music. I have.

BONUS

I've got some new stuff that I think is pretty good and It's not on the SSS playlist so I'll throw it on here:

Worst I Ever Had (Drake) - Elephant Man
This song is hillarious. And since the drake song is pretty fun by itself, it's a winning combo. Must hear.

Open Porse - Diverseconcepts
This one made me feel like I was back in 10th grade listening to The Album Leaf. But instead of being all downtempo, there's a good beat behind it that carries the song and makes it party worthy or background worthy.

Slip And Slide (Scream And Shout Recordings Original Mix) - Micha Moor
Kinda long, but alot of cool sounds. Interesting for sure.

Late Night TV

I've been on this song for a few weeks. Enjoy it like me.
Every
Every Every Every

So I was watching TV tonight for about 2 seconds before I was captivated by the pure sex that is Shakira's new video for She Wolf. I mean have you seen it??? If not here... check it out. I'm not sure of a better word than ridiculous. The link for it is at the bottom as well as a few remixes that I love.
Awooooo! It's a great night for this track cause the moon is nearly full. Neat.

I went out tonight with Kalvin, Kris, & Max to Cuba Cuba paid for by Timothy Dean. It was a great dinner with good food and comfortable conversation with everyone (who, before tonight, hadn't all hung out). I like that. I got the duck which max also enjoyed and everyone else had the pork shoulder which was probably the heartiest option on the menu. It was good but I wanted those black beans... Can't get enough of those.

We then came back and drank some brews. Maredsous 8 Dubbel started it off and then we shared some Aventinus. If you were in France with me, you know what a staple the latter was in my weekly alcohol consumption, so to find it in the US at Littles for such a low price of 3.95 is a real treat. As Marc says, "Yeah Aventinus... He's a great guy!" The saga will certainly continue for this year as well. I'm excited. I used my nice beer glasses to drink the stuff.
Also, if your name is Marc, I will be inviting you to drink Westmalle with me in Westmalle glasses within the next week. I'm saving it for you homie. The stuff's so expensive here. Now all we gotta find is Bernardus...

Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'm going, but probably not much since I don't want to drink all the nice stuff and I'm not yet 21. Saturday on the other hand will be pretty cool. I'm going to the Shadium to get my birthday mug and then maybe to the Pioneer or something to finish off the rest of the night. What I'm really looking forward to is the camping trip that me and Max are planning for Sunday afternoon-Wednesday morning. We're going to go up in the similar area to where we were last monday but stay A) longer and B) enjoy the outdoors much more because we won't be relying on a car nor any pre-set comodities. I do need to purchase a backpack for this, but I figure it'll be a worthwhile investment as I love camping and I'm probably going to be doing more and more over the next weeks/months/and (dispite the winters) years. Me and max were just jurlin lookin at a map tonight of that area and got really excited for an exploratory trip. So that being said, if you like camping and the outdoor experience and you're free on Sunday - Wednesday, please hit me up cause it would be awesome to have a bunch of people going.

Music links:

Fun Times.

For some reason I'm captivated by house music as of late. Example:

I realize today that coming back to the US was a large mistake. I had played around with the idea of what would have happened if I had stayed and didn't worry about it too much, but I miss the hex and know I could have made money and been happier if I had stayed there...

I'm having fun in Denver, but the summer lull has got me down. No work, not too much going on, no trouble, no real problems, but no excitement either. On a daily basis, I have nothing to look forward to; no rush of flying through cars, no weird dinner parties, no fear of french.

I waited outside the hookah bar (now called Aroma apres shooting) for 20 min for Molly the other night. She didn't show up even though I'm pretty sure she was hanging out in the parking lot at breugers looking over. Whatever... probably better for her. She wasn't going to get anything out of me anyway.

Speaking of which, I think I need to tone down my sexy or something. I'm getting alot of dreamy-eyed regards when I'm out and about. Almost every day this last week/weekend some girl/girls has/have given me googlie eyes. Got to work on that.

I'm in the process of painting my bike fully for the first time and I think it's going well. I'll have to wait for the final result, but I feel pretty good with the color choice.

I don't have my music on my normal harddrive and since I don't have internet at my apartment I'm not there. I don't have anything good to post so I'll give you a link to a blog that has posted Icarus by Santogold.

Beta Fish?

Listen to this while you're reading what I'm writing:

So I have alot to report. When you aren't working and you have quite a bit of time on your hands to do whatever, you get alot of cool anecdotes. That being said, I'd rather be working, but that's just the state of the economy I guess.

First off, I forgot to tell the story of how I got holla'd at from a car while on my bike last time I wrote on this. I came straight in and wrote down the exact conversation so I wouldn't forget it and I'm glad. Here it is:

"Hey Boy! Whatchu doin? Where you goin on that cute bicycle? Can I come home wichu?"

"Maybe..."rising intonation

Ooo don't make me spank that ass...

Then the car of girls drove off. One of them looked like Johanna Radoux the Sweet Rat and the one that was yelling at me kinda looked like Rye Rye.

It was hillarious. I thought it would never happen again but...

On Tuesday night when I got back from my first LOOPS in denver (a ride that is similar to Les Rides Du Jeudi Soir that I did in Paris but less intense) I went over to Kris King's crib to chill. As I was really hungry after riding, I went out with Kris to get some of that new greek place's food that's close to campus. We picked up the food and then were sitting at the light at University when, unexpectedly, a girl leans out her window two lanes over and starts hollaing at me.
I was surprised that it was happening again, but wasn't at all bothered by the banter that went something along the lines of:

Hey boy!
Hey!
What you eating?
Fries from that greek place. They're good.
Give me one!
(Kris decides to grenade throw a fry. It almost makes it to their car.)
Almost! What's your number?
Uh... It's a texas area code.
Whatever give it to me.
-my number-
Okay well i'm going to call you.
I don't have my phone with me...
Oh well you'll have a missed call then.
Haha okay...
(Drives off)

So I get back to Kris' and i see that there actually is a missed call. What?!? I just got hit on from two lanes away? I thought parkinglot pimpin was ridiculous but this was absurd.
So I text the chick. She invites me to a hookah bar the next night. I tell her that I have to get up early and I instead go to Grant's house cause I don't want to go to the hookah bar across the street from me that was the place of at least one stabbing last year. Rad. Plus, I don't know her, she's 18 (thank you facebook friending), she looks a little like Liz Lowenburg, and I don't go to hookah bars much. It has to be a special thang. Anyway, we're supposed to meet up at Beta tonight but I don't know if I feel comfortable with a "Dome and Peace" which is what will probably ensue. Also, she's the same age as my sister. Going to be a college freshman. Hum that's just fucking weird. I might just go for a fun time and resist advances thrown my way. Only thing is that the DJ's myspace page + the music on there is lame as shit. I'll write to tell if I go.

In terms of music, I have alot of new stuff, but I'll just put these three up here:

Mobin Master - Show Me Love ft. Karina Chavez

Alan Braxe - Nightwatcher (Original Mix) (go to this blog and get it. addicted is a longer instrumental btw.)

Kid Sister - Telephone Flow

I biked 50 km after watching today's tour time trial. I was sporting the Cycles Lemont Jersey for the first time and it was awesome. Good jerseys make riding alot more comfortable. Anyway, I lapped around Wash Park 15 times or something in an hour and 15 min. Contador's time for the trial was 48.30. Rad. I was still pretty impressed that I could spin at an average of 36 km/h for that long. Pignon Fixe Bitches!

BONUS:

Because I highly doubt most of you have this song (and you really should) I'm throwing up the oldie-but-goody:

In About 3 Years...

Still jobless, but I think with Marc back in town there's a possibility of me getting a delivery job. If not that, Kyle might be able to pull some strings to get me a coaching job with the little kid groups that he works with. Anything is fine with me to be honest with the exception of working at a fast food restaurant or holding one of those signs that say "free sandwich" or "Refinance now!" or something like that.

I ordered a new bag from these guys and without spoiling too much, I'll tell you that it's grey, white and purple. I'm excited.

I was fooling around today with some music stuff cause I was bored and didn't want to take the trash out and I came up with this.
The song (I'm not sure how new it is to be honest) "Every Girl" is hilarious. It's so over the top and the way-more-graffic-than-even-Kels lyrics mixed with the cheesy beat is fantastically awful. That fact hasn't yet kept me from listening to it mind you.

So get that little sample cause I might be using that to throw in a mini-mix. I haven't really come up with a Super Summer Sampler yet, but I'm thinking about that as well.

Off to Marc's place for our first time hanging out in denver.

Staying Busy, The Unemployed Way

Hey. So i'm in Denver and it's cool. I have a few newses to speak about and since I don't have internet chez moi I probably won't put any music on here. To be honest, I haven't downloaded anything new in over 2 weeks, which, if you know me, is extraordinary. My computer just won't find the "Free Bruegers Wifi" and I am just hiking up the hill to DCB to write stuff/check stuff. So I won't be as quick on the draw on facebook/emails because of that.

Anyway, my flight from Paris was pretty uneventful (which is always nice when traveling international). I sat by an old cowboy type and we talked and drank together throughout the flight. I was genuinely impressed that he, a single elderly man, would learn some french and go live in Paris for 3 weeks in a large apartment that he rented. Of course he had family come to visit/stay with him for a majority of the time, but that takes alot of gusto to leave everything you're comfortable with and go live in Paris for 3 weeks as a retired guy. At first, I assumed he came from oil but I quickly learned by studying the way he spoke and his mannerisms that he was just doing it big for the first time in his life. He was open to learning new stuff, and at that age, that's really rare to find out of an American especially. I always joke that I'll die by the age of 45 or 50 cause I will A) not have anything else to do at that point and B) not have kids or a wife that I'll want to stick around for, but seeing this guy's calm love for life made me rethink that proposition. Alone isn't really bad at all. There have been a few times this last week that I've been by myself and bored (especially being the internet junkie that I am), but I don't mind it. In fact, my love for being alone, which was probably grown over my stay in paris, is just another component that attracts me to people that similarly don't need to rely on others to survive.
Moving on...

In Dallas, I got home, simi-unloaded my stuff, and hung out with Jeff two nights in a row. We went out to Royce City to skate this one place that he saw from the highway (and melted doing so) but ended up finding another ditch spot that was right by the highschool and alot more fun. For some reason fs 5-0s are really easy for me and they're not for most other people. Alot of them were done on this one section of the ditch.

Later that week, I hung out with Phillip and Michael which was pretty cool. We ended up going to Frys to buy a TV for the Cherry's new house and just chilling around said house with a few cold ones. July 4th was pretty whatever, but we did have some great grill fun, (which involved me almost burning my hand off) some good brats, and a pitiful fireworks display. Armin showed up too. Good to see him. Greg had mono so he had to just sit around his house with the exception of the last night where he came and chilled with us. My not-being-in-paris-sadness was relieved quite well due to the great company down in the D.

My drive sucked, like it most often does, but I didn't fall asleep, I had a Tag-a-long Blizard from Dairy Queen, and was in two of the most violent thunder storms I've ever driven through. If you're driving through the north east corner of New Mexico on 87 during summer, be prepared for either hot, or wet. That place is mars...another planet.

I've gotten pretty settled in in Denver, gone running once, biking a few more times, and have had "board meetings" with my other unemployed counterparts.
It's good to be back, but I miss the rush, the hecticity, and the company of Paris.

Television... wait, no... Internet rules the nation

I realized that the less I have internet, the less I post/less I get music and stay updated. Kinda lame but my life depends on the internet. It's honestly like a power source. I would be bored as shit if it didn't exist which is sad.

So today I headed out to a party for a girl I talked to like twice this year at dauphine. It was in the suburbs and it ended up taking an hour and a half from door to what would have been the door. I say 'would have' because I am an asshole and forgot to save her number in my phone. So here I am in the middle of Saint-Fargeau wondering around looking at the field where a bunch of sports were taking place, walking up a street for 20 minutes without finding anything commercial, and kicking myself for being such an idiot. Not only did I let down the ONLY person at Dauphine that invited me to Anything at all, but I wasted a nice sunday afternoon on the train Not with people I like. So stupid.

Hopefully tonight will be fun. I'm going to watch the USA match in a bar with joe and kristina. I think tomorrow i'll go get faded up with joana. I need a haircut bad.

I don't have any music which kinda defy's the point of this blog, but whatever.

I'm listening to Common though. Check out the Resurrection album.

BIKE TRIP

But first....

A story.

So my landlady called yesterday to ask if she could show the apartment to some people. I said no and that I just got back from a trip and that I needed until today. So we set it for noon today. I picked up all my crap (which always takes longer than it seems like it will) and then they came up and saw the place. The girl was kinda hot but seemed mad bitchy plus she had some big acne bumps like woah. I liked her mom better.... Pause.
Anyway, she looked around said that it was "trop mignon" (or "too cute" for all you non francophones). I tried to throw in the fact that the wifi sucked a few times which caused a little chagrin with my landlady. Whatev. Going out the door she pauses and picks a wrapper for one of these out her pocket and drops it on the floor and walks out.
I almost said "hey you dropped this," but it was after they were outside the doorframe that I realized that she had just used my floor for a trash can. Littering is lame. Especially in someone's house that you don't know. Though I was a little angry, I was more astonished by her audacity. After laughing for a few minutes I felt glad that her mother didn't see her act. Seemed like the type of mother that would let her daughter walk all over her. Lame. Slapaho!

Craig David is underrated. Although this song is a little juvenile, it's still a Jam. The beat is hot and his voice is great although it's not like he has to hit alot of notes.

Bike Trip Time...

So we left last Sunday morning to Avignon. Unfortunately, Joseph Cardinal's subconscious body felt it neccessary to not wake up to an alarm and to help me, Marc, and Joe miss the train. The tickets that we had were internet tickets. This means that we printed them out after purchasing them on the internet. The only difference between an internet ticket and a ticket that was printed out on the actual ticket stub is that you click a button to have them send the tickets to you by mail. So we couldn't switch the original ticket out for a new one and just pay a small fee. We were going to have to buy new tickets (at something like 90 euros a pop). Luckily, we came across a conductor on a later train that said "oh I have an american friend, so I can make an exception for you guys." Awesome that he would do that but dumb that we even came across a situation that dumb. Thanks to the french who would create some rule like that.

We got to Avignon in the afternoon and got into the hostel/campsite depending on who you were in the group. (Joe and I stayed in the hostel. We like being clean. Also there was only one tent.) We jurled a little around the town after my chain broke a few times and caused me to be both really bummed out and really sore from biking on marc's bike and falling due to his choice to buy a 700 wheel for his frame which supports 650's. (The wheel hits the pedal. That's not good FYI) Anyway, we saw some thangs like the pope's palace and the city. We got a ton of icecream (3 cones to be exact) and then made our way back to the hostel to rest a little before the big trip the next day.

Next day we left late (of course) to go to Aix-en-Provence. We go the first 70 km or something without too much bad happening (just brian getting two flats). We found this little town that was way up on a hill. Because it was monday most everything was closed, but the boulanger was definatelly stoked that we showed up. That was probably the most business on a single group that she had had in the last 10 years. After chillin and getting some food stuffs we went on our way to find this lake that was on the map. After thinking that it was nowhere to be found, we decided to keep going up this curvy road that crossed a large wall. Well, we're all idiots cause that was the reservoir for the dam that we were looking directly at. We chilled for a while and napped and I put sunscreen in joe's eye and Brian swam illegaly in the lake and got told off by the people who take care of the lake. Then Leo's front backpack got stolen. Rad. It was also hella dumb on the part of the theifs cause all it had was clothes. The important stuff was the stuff that was tied up with bungies (who woulda thunk that we would secure the expensive stuff). Anyway that was really annoying. After our late lunch break we continued with Leos in both bad spirits and bad physical form and kept climbing up to another small city. Once we got there we were happily suprised to find that we were about to start the decent into Aix. So we did and reached proposterous speeds doing so. I think I hit 58.9 km/h which is crazy taking into consideration the 20 pounds of stuff strapped on the back of my bike.

In Aix we found the hostel, checked in and then went into town for a pint.
The next day we went into town to check it out. It was cool. We got lunch, found a Decathalon to buy white T's and a new chain for my bike, relaxed in a park, and saw the sites. That night we got cleaned up and were thinking about heading into town but decided to just jurl at the hostel. So I went out with Joe to get food and drink and came back to the picknick table outside where everyone was hanging. I put my messenger bag down. I went back in with everyone else after a few hours. I woke up to an annoyingly loud mower outside. I started to pack up my stuff. Realized that I didn't know where was my bag was. Outside! NO! Went outside and found it in probably 20 pieces. My passport was ripped up but luckily my wallet and carte de sejour was intact. Dumb.

We left to go to Marseille (late again) and got to the hostel after having a kabab by the old port of the city. We then went carrefour to get food then came back to the hostel. The next day we got up later than normal (so like 9) and got ourselves together slowly and then set out to go to Cassis. Unfortunately, the coastal road doesn't go all the way there. So we passed some cliffs that people were jumping off and continued down the road. It wasn't more than 5 minutes later that I was rammed by a jovial not-paying-attention-to-anything Brian. He did not manage to knock me over (cause I'm raw like that) but he did manage to land on his naked back and slide for a few feet annihilating his skin. Seen by some bar owner and his friend, Brian was treated by the pharmacist down the road that was friends of theirs. After a half hour and alot of man power to try to position Brian's front wheel into a ridable form, we left and decided to scrap the trip to Cassis for the next day and go jump off some cliffs. So we did. It was awesome though I couldn't get up the courage to do a gainer. It's been a while. We came back to the hostel, went to LIDL to pick up a 5 liter keg of beer that we had earlier stashed in the back section of the frozen food shelf. We had a fun night at the hostel talking with this cool dude Anthony Orso. For those of you that know Will Sawyer, he is pretty much the same person. Same build, same haircut, same interests for the most part, and same style. It was actually really weird. He told us all about Detroit, NYC, being in architecture school, working for a designer jewler, and travelling europe by himself on a bike.

Next day, we invited Anthony to come with us to Cassis. He had said he was going there anyway and we figured that we could just ride together. So we climb this mountain and Marc and Anthony stop off at the hostel which was near the top of the mountain. I continued cause I had forgotten they were going to stop and then waited for Joe and Brian at the bottom of the hill. They showed up, told me Marc had chilled with Anthony for a few seconds and was going to meet us later. So we go get food, start to eat it and wait for Marcus. Hour 15 later he shows up and we get our beach on. That beach was the single most ridiculous assembly of fine girls I have ever seen. 90% were at least 7s. Retarded. We jurled there, Joe and Brian took skeezy photos of all the girls on the beach, then we gathered our things so we could get back into Marseille in time to make the train and hopefully see the Notre Dame de Garde. I booked it up the hill and unfortunately missed the turn off to the hostel so I didn't get to say bye to Anthony. Kinda bummed about that cause he was cool.
Oh well, we get to the top and because Joe has a flat he goes down to video us coming down the hill fast.
We make it into the city, take showers, and then head to the train station. We dismantle the bikes and get stuff ready to get on the train. I don't want to really get into it but Marc somehow misses the train and we leave without him and have to take care of his stuff when we get back to Paris.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip. Plenty of jurling, plenty of white T's, alot of FILTF, and relaxing beach time. I'm really glad with how it went.

Here's the bike route from Marseille to Cassis for Colin or whoever else rides. I enjoyed doing that in my 46-17 gear ratio of 2.7. I can't wait to build a geared bike so I can handle mountains like I handle a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Eat em up.

I was singing this song without knowing the words and without hearing it for at least a year on the bike trip. I spent about 5 minutes trying to find it and realized it was Janet sampling America. It's a great song and I think you'll like it if you don't hate Jesus.

ENJOI!!!
