Sorry about the drought.

It's not that I dont have music to share. It's not that at all. I have alot of it that I feel everyone who likes aural pleasures should get to enjoy. I have just been really uninterested in posting stuff...and i've been quite busy.

Lets start with this:
I found this this morning and was jamming it almost all day in my head. I want the album.

If you've been following recent events, you know that I recently sprained my ankle so hard that Rajon Rondo himself would be proud. (He's been breaking ankles frequently in the post season.) The pain was really intoxicating the first 4 days but it's settled down now. Unfortunately, I had a glass of whiskey yesterday and it made my leg start throbbing. So i'm going to assume that alcohol is bad for the intense bruising that has colored my foot yellow, green, red, and purple. That being said, I will not be participating in many celebratory measures this weekend. I guess that's for the best though. Exams are calling my name.

I really like this song even though I admit to not knowing about it until I saw the Hype Skateboards am promo I recently threw on facebook. I would like to now take a break to say how dissapointed I was with the May Days concert this evening. If anyone reading this goes to DU, I'm telling you that you're going to be hardpressed to get a better show than the RJD2 hour and 45 minute marathon two years ago. That was incredible. And now, DUPB has decided that they will get a headliner that isn't even the one they advertised and call it good when that headliner starts a few minutes late and ends 20 minutes early. I have heard that Shiny Toy Guns puts on a good show. But I certainly wouldn't know it based on their DJ side-project HybriDigital. In fact, I'm not even going to post a link. Thats how dissapointed I am of their slacker-ass performance. Way to kill the vibe you greedy ass-clowns. And DUPB, next time advertise that it's not actually going to be the band but their side-project that won't play any recognizable tunes. Thanks for ruining my last May Days.


Moving on, I would like to post something that will blow your mind. It is ridiculously crunk. And it is by the one, the only, Tum Tum and the rest of the crew of DSR. I got this mixtape and it was hard for me to not re-injure myself getting retardedly crunk. Enjoi.

I feel like i should be dead at this point but i'm just really in a deep thinking mood. Unfortunately, since i'm mentally fatigued, my deep thinking isn't leading anywhere. I've been listening to Thursday all morning though. I've gone through all of Full Collapse, War All The Time, & most of A City By The Light Divided at this point. Lets Have Some Fun

I would like to dedicate this post to having fun. Since that's the theme/goal, I'm going to try to post only stuff that sounds and feels like it was created with having fun in mind.

But to really bring up something that hinders fun... random back-itch attacks. What the hell is the deal there? I'd say that about once a week i'll get the gnarliest back-itch that is of course in the spot that is unreachable without a pen or stick or something. I need another one of these. Just got hit with one of those. Craze.

But anyway... Jolly Ranchers... you done fucked up. I buy a bag and find that my mouth is craving the lemons more than any other flavor. You shoulda got rid of watermelon. Nobody digs watermelon jolly ranchers. I know many a folk that liked the lemon. Bummed.

This is some beantown kid remixing the YYY's track and not doing a bad job. Fantastic party jam but the rapping leaves a little to be desired. Whatever, kid's gettin goofy and probably having a good time doing it.



Daisy - Fang Island

Everyone is posting this and I am too. Cause I know I won't get in trouble since there are probably 15 other links from the hm. This is a fun band. Nick played me some of their stuff the other night and I immediately liked it. It's kinda like if Animal Collective grew up listening to pop-punk and had those catchy riffs running through their system.



Pony Pony Run Run is the next Phoenix. There, I said it. Here's their sad music video and then a fun remix of their second single.

To be honest, there are about 3 remixes that I downloaded of this that suck. Sad really. I don't understand the trend that you need to have unnaturals thrown all throughout the song. It creates tension and that's not what I want to hear in dance music. But this one is pretty good. For a mellower vibe, check out the Lifelike extended remix. I like that one alot.

Got Da Groove (feat. Gucci Mane) - Rusko

This is hilarious. I couldn't believe it the first time I heard it. Rusko comes in with a dubby-grungy beat and Gucci Mane drops another goofy flow. Then there is a chromeo-like chorus that makes it just weird. I love it.



Tell 'Em Rye Rye Said Bang (Mover Shaker Remix) - Sleigh Bells vs. Rye Rye

I loved Bang when it came out so this was a kind of song renewal in my mind. Sleigh Bells are blowing up with their noisy noise pop (Colin likes em). And I don't think I need to say anything about Rye Rye. She and Diplo are tight. The song is the best of both worlds. And is fun. Real fun.

New New

I got the new Hocus Pocus cd, 16 Piéces, from marc. I feel bad about not buying it myself, but since it's 35 dollars on amazon and i've already bought their other two, I don't feel that bad.
I think this is my favorite beat. I haven't had time to listen to the whole thing through cause I've been skating with marc today but I'll tell you what I think when I get the chance. Chances are I'll be ecstatic about it but I do admit to a little bias since they are my number one hip-hop group and in my top 3 groups of any music.

I also picked up a Minotaur Shock album. I've talked about them a long time ago I think, but it's been a while. They're kinda the music that you would expect to find in The Life Aquatic. DVS used them for a few of their echo commercials. Yeah, like this one:

I like that song, but I like this one more. It's really glitchy and complex. You'll enjoy it if you like Bibio or...they kinda resemble old Royksopp too. Maybe with a little Lemon Jelly? Regardless, they are basically a Midwest Product twin that experiments more and doesn't care about breaking the rhythm.

This song is tight. The speaking/singing is a little weird, but we all have to embrace the indie scene every once in a while. Toyota needs to make another one of their "Hey! We're still a good company!" commercials using this song. It'd be fire. The intro reminded me of the original version of the remake of Star Guitar by Shinichi Osawa. You decide if I'm crazy or not.




Grant played a Rude Boy remix a while back and it was hot. So I looked for new ones. This is a new one. It is hot as well. I would dance hard to this fur shore. Anyone who likes those Jamaica-friendly basslines, you need this. The drop @ 2 minutes is So tight.

This is the best thing I've heard in months. Real talk. It's mixed exceptionally, the chorus is haunting, and the synth playing/programming (whichever one it is) is incredibly on point. This track is pervasive. It will not quit, and will provide you with something astonishing in your melancholy, your ecstacy, your delirium. Do yourself a favor...get it.

This song has been in my head all day. I was skating the DU pond today for an hour just singing all the while. The 3 bikini-clad girls who were tanning right next to me probably thought I was a weirdo....but that's okay. I had a blast. I'm starting to have alot of fun skating again. I've got a few tricks that I would only land luckily on lock and it's a good feeling.

Last night John and Clark had their joint birthday party. Twas fun. Austin rolled down and we got buck on the sweatbox basement dance floor with a bunch of other chillers. Unfortunately, John didn't get the birthday fun he woulda liked, but I think everyone had a great time regardless. Like always, me and Austin got Jeru's on the way home. Falafel sandwich with hot sauce? Delicious.

I woke up this morning and ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's. I gave ice cream up for lent, so I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it wasn't all I had hoped for. Ice cream, despite being incredible, only gives you so much happiness. But the rest of the day was fantastic ending with a great moose curry made by Mr. Sake Talk himself.

This is kinda old, but it's super super fun. And it makes a good point. You should not ever devote the time teaching somebody's dude to dance. You're just raising his girl-keeping potential. And lets be honest, you probably want her to break up with him anyway.

A pretty happy song with some happy sounds and happy vibes. I really like the falling electronic pulse sounds and the background vocals. It's a simple song, but effective. ...it's saturday we've got every hour in the world.

Another lame mellow post

This one is dedicated to not going to the Border again. I despise that venue, the fact that they charge 2 dollars for guys to get in on a tuesday, the underage people who think they're awesome cause they're drinking, the too made-up and too showy girls, the slanted pool table, and the shitty music. I could dj like that with my eyes closed mr. djdenver. No disrespect to the people I was chilling with last night, I did have fun chatting/dancing with everyone, but the poor drink specials and the other 3/4 of the bar where we weren't made me want to kill myself.

I still haven't picked up this whole album. Not sure why. Every song I've heard has been good. This is a less bassy version of the original that starts off 10x more chill than its twin song.



Maps (TGIK Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Maps is the best slideshow song of all time. I've said that before and I'll say it again. I want to shout out to Ty Evans who put the original in the Chocolate video that came out...6 years ago? Wow. This remix is insane. It takes everything that makes the original fantastic and adds an electronic cherry on top.
