Woo Week

This post will be filled with hidden links . If you click the right one, you might win these Gucci loafers I was sent by Gucci to promote their new indie styles. Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. Just find the link and it'll direct you to the comment page that's pre-filled out. Enjoy that.

I would like to start you out with this video. It will give you delirium. I love when that dancehall beat comes back in at 3:53.
I haven't bought the track yet. I really should just sign up for a Beatport account and stop delaying the inevitable.

You know what's radical? When you go to Cheapo-discs and find not one but two La Bouche singles with all the remixes for a buck fifty. (I also got The Urban Network's Rapology volume 2 In-store play Edition. This isn't a CD that you can buy. It was sent out October 4th 1991 [i was 3] for promotion only. This was probably 6 years before they had a website.) So without delay... the two grungiest remixes of the two singles. Does anyone want to find a rollerskating rink in Denver with me? Just get at me. My number's LOV-TOD-ANCE.

In Your Life (The Xquizit DJ X Mix) - La Bouche

Be My Lover (HI NRG Mix) - La Bouche (btw, you can't think of a better remix name than HI NRG. No one can. That's a certainty.)

Staying with the throwback jams, Monica had a hot ass voice. What the hell happened to her? This did. Where are the tight The Whispers samples at Ol' became-more-irrelevant-than-brian-mcknight lookin ass? Because The Whispers put it down, I'd like to share two of the songs that use that jam. I'll pass on the 50 joint and the Monica joint cause I don't want their record labels to come lookin for me. So jam to these. Btw, Nate Dogg murks the 213 joint. And Snoop is classic as always. And sorry about the quality on the Visionaries track. That one came from the very long past days of limewire. Blerb.

I'm Fly - 213

Bless The Mic - The Visionaries (You can't get this dope without a perscription.)

Something Completely different for all the Electro-House heads out there who still like a little flava from the 'olden days of Hip-Hop. This Jams! (I'll put the cat-scratch vocal version from Lucinda or whatever the hell her name is in the bonus.)

It's Like My Bodyrox (Dani L Mashup) - Run DMC vs. Bodyrox

I can't remember if Greg posted this already, but it's fresh. I like Daft Punk and I love Outkast. So why not put them together? Well, a few people have tried already and failed miserably, but this one is hot. I'm not sure it's dance-party hot, but it'll get you movin' in your car for sure.

Punkroses (El Barto & Liam B Mash) - Daft Punk vs Outkast (I've never heard of either of those guys, but they did a good job.)

Which brings me to the part of the show where I would like to give mad love to the DJ playing that saturday night midnight party in the Vista Loft guest-house. You did a Great Job. Everything you played was real new and hot and, oh my god! the transitions were incredible. And thank god you didn't tape down your main power cord. Why would anyone want to not unplug their main power twice during an hour-long period?
This is dedicated to you and all the other DJs that make parties that much better:

My Life Would Suck Without You (Schim Radio Edit) - Kelly Clarkson

Jesus. If you didn't catch on to the sarcastic qualities of that last section, take some time to cntrl/apple click on those italicized words. You'll laugh. It was truely...

Chaos - The New Young Pony Club
This song is tight. The speaking/singing is a little weird, but we all have to embrace the indie scene every once in a while. Toyota needs to make another one of their "Hey! We're still a good company!" commercials using this song. It'd be fire. The intro reminded me of the original version of the remake of Star Guitar by Shinichi Osawa. You decide if I'm crazy or not.

Grant played a Rude Boy remix a while back and it was hot. So I looked for new ones. This is a new one. It is hot as well. I would dance hard to this fur shore. Anyone who likes those Jamaica-friendly basslines, you need this. The drop @ 2 minutes is So tight.

Rude Boy (DVW Remix) - Rihanna

And for the last one (cause I can't remember what I was going to post for everyone from last week) you Must get the Drankenstein Mixtape off MadDecent. Fire. My favorites are Tuck Money and Swerved right into the smoke break. If I had the time, I'd break up the tracks, but I don't. And I don't care about you that much.

Enjoy your week! I will.
Stephen Tyler, I've never met you, but you do great things. I'm so stoked/continually nervous about hanging out with your daughter. Speaking of fire earlier...jesus.

BONUS:

Yeah Yeah ft. Luciana - Bodyrox

A must-get from my man Marc (who has unabashedly copied my posting format): Diplo Vs. Sunday Girl - Four Floors. He has the mediafire link right on there. This is fantastic. Get relaxed to this Dub-tiptoe jam. Get my joke?

6 avr. 2010

Pour Marc

Get through the week homie.

Everyone else... these are Really Really incredible. I've been lucky to find these recently (even though some are a little dated for blogtopia) and have been jamming them constantly.

Worse It Gets RAC Remix - Penguin Prison.
I posted this on Sunday. Get it if you haven't. I never named my car cause I thought it was dumb. But I've settled on Jennifer. Merci Penguin Prison.

Black Panther - Crystal Castles

As with any CC song, if you look up the lyrics, you might like it less. You might also like it more. Whichever, they're strange. Thanks to Tony and his re-edit of his brother's footy for this track.

Delia (Edwin Van Cleef Remix) - ProCon

This is the best thing I've heard in months. Real talk. It's mixed exceptionally, the chorus is haunting, and the synth playing/programming (whichever one it is) is incredibly on point. This track is pervasive. It will not quit, and will provide you with something astonishing in your melancholy, your ecstacy, your delirium. Do yourself a favor...get it.

Whiskey Club was awesome. I had a great meal and 3 awesome whiskeys for 25 dollars.

If you don't know...now you know.

Peace

Some Indie Jams You Should Have

Start out with the original:

And then get the remix:

Penguin Prison - The Worse It Gets (RAC Remix)

This song has been in my head all day. I was skating the DU pond today for an hour just singing all the while. The 3 bikini-clad girls who were tanning right next to me probably thought I was a weirdo....but that's okay. I had a blast. I'm starting to have alot of fun skating again. I've got a few tricks that I would only land luckily on lock and it's a good feeling.

Last night John and Clark had their joint birthday party. Twas fun. Austin rolled down and we got buck on the sweatbox basement dance floor with a bunch of other chillers. Unfortunately, John didn't get the birthday fun he woulda liked, but I think everyone had a great time regardless. Like always, me and Austin got Jeru's on the way home. Falafel sandwich with hot sauce? Delicious.

I woke up this morning and ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's. I gave ice cream up for lent, so I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it wasn't all I had hoped for. Ice cream, despite being incredible, only gives you so much happiness. But the rest of the day was fantastic ending with a great moose curry made by Mr. Sake Talk himself.

But we know you really just want some music. So here it is:

Tokyo Police Club - Graves

I would post every song I have by TPC, but I'd probably get a cease and desist. I would just like to say that there isn't a song I've heard by them yet that I don't like at least somewhat. And that's hard. I'm pretty picky. This one is real tight. I love the little guitar diddy that comes in with about 30 seconds left. I'm a sucker for harmony lines like that.

Black Kids - I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You (The Twelves Remix)

This is kinda old, but it's super super fun. And it makes a good point. You should not ever devote the time teaching somebody's dude to dance. You're just raising his girl-keeping potential. And lets be honest, you probably want her to break up with him anyway.

Friends Electric - Hours

A pretty happy song with some happy sounds and happy vibes. I really like the falling electronic pulse sounds and the background vocals. It's a simple song, but effective. ...it's saturday we've got every hour in the world.

I hope everyone enjoys those and has a great start to the week.

I'll leave you with another youtube song (cause i don't have the mp3). Despite the lyrics being super weird, I love the keyboard: If you've got things on your mind...Shake Them Off!

Later!

31 mars 2010

Another lame mellow post

This one is dedicated to not going to the Border again. I despise that venue, the fact that they charge 2 dollars for guys to get in on a tuesday, the underage people who think they're awesome cause they're drinking, the too made-up and too showy girls, the slanted pool table, and the shitty music. I could dj like that with my eyes closed mr. djdenver. No disrespect to the people I was chilling with last night, I did have fun chatting/dancing with everyone, but the poor drink specials and the other 3/4 of the bar where we weren't made me want to kill myself.

But this isn't about complaining; it's about posting mellow jams. So without further ado:

Mystery (What kind of breeze do you blow? Extended edit) - Lake Heartbeat

I think this is a re-post but I'm okay with that. It's awesome. Kinda sad really, but it's a pretty song. And I'm a fan of Lake Heartbeat's other stuff too.

Pachuca Sunrise - Minus the Bear

If I ever need to get mellow, this is a go-to. You'll like it. Oldie but goodie. It would be tight to be on a beach in the Mediterranean...

Rush - Bellatronica

This has been one of my favorites for a while.

Flying Over Bus Stops - Athlete

I really loved "wires" when my friend monica gave it to me senior year of highschool on a mix cd (remember those?) and so I bought their next album. It was well worth it. This is most certainly the most chill song out of these.

Half Asleep (Alternate Version) - School of Seven Bells

I still haven't picked up this whole album. Not sure why. Every song I've heard has been good. This is a less bassy version of the original that starts off 10x more chill than its twin song.

Maps (TGIK Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Maps is the best slideshow song of all time. I've said that before and I'll say it again. I want to shout out to Ty Evans who put the original in the Chocolate video that came out...6 years ago? Wow. This remix is insane. It takes everything that makes the original fantastic and adds an electronic cherry on top.

Hope that quenches your thirst kyle...or anyone else that wanted to get mellow yellow.

BONUS:

This is not calm. Not at all. But I like it despite having a general disinterest in Chromeo.
Night by Night (Midnight Conspiracy Remix) - Chromeo

20 mars 2010

i like this song

and i felt like posting it. it's really mellow which is something i need after a week of snowboarding and partying in beaver creek. woo spring break 2010.

Strangers In The Wind - Cut Copy

i don't know what i'm doing with my life...

5 mars 2010

Rub Dub Dub.

Get your rubber ducks out cause you're about to get washed over with some dubly bubbly.

This one's an oldie but goodie. I have liked Kaskade alot since I heard Steppin Out and this, although being dub and not prog house, is another win in my book.

I Remember (Caspa Remix)
- Kaskade & Deadmau5

I've realized that I obviously do not give enough of a shit to be closely involved with other humans. I occasionally prioritize interactions but I don't really prioritize any type of relationship when I should. Dancing by myself is often just as important as conversing with somebody. And if I haven't seen you in a while, I'll probably talk to you before I talk to the person I saw yesterday. I don't understand things that can rationally be labeled as irrational.

On another note, I've been meeting people recently that have been super cool. I've heard people talking smack about a handful of them but I've discovered nothing but good things... Example: one of the proclaimed "rich girls" of DU, who alot of people were bummed on, was really nice. She looked good and was genuinely a kind person... at least from the interaction we had last night.

Message in a Bottle (Fresh Direct Remix)
- The Police

I think i've posted this before, but it really is the freebird of dubstep. I think it rocks and it's nice and long for if you're vibin with not much to do.

Earthquake (JSaxton Remix) - Little Boots

I like this one alot. It's got a great sound and is fun to listen to. You could argue that it isn't hard enough, but you could also not argue that. Plus, who doesn't like 320.

Daydreaming (Jakwob Remix) - Kid Sister

Jakwob is killing it in the game. He makes tracks fire. Ex... Ellie Goulding Starry Eyed. You'll probably be creeped out by this track. But that's okay; after all, we're all living in a small Resident Evil style dreamscape.

Moving Parts (Jakwob Remix) - Mr Fogg

I have this pegged as downtempo dub. It's very mellow and nice on the ears. It really sounds kinda like Anoraak woulda made this their first intro into the dubstep world. It's very properly synchronized and a clean and neat dub jam.

I'm not going to post everything great I have, so I'll leave it at that.
Hope everyone enjoys.

28 févr. 2010

Trackstanding with two bikes at the same time.

I've been super obsessed with Say Ahh by Trey Songs recently. So here it is. I can't post a link cause the whole post will probably be deleted by the record label bastards.

So, i would normally say listen to your mother's advice. But this time she messed up. In a modern dating world it is not okay to be hanging out with more than one person at a time. especially if the people you are hanging out with are girls. So no more of that. it was stressful anyway. i'm not a fan.

I think dance parties need to become a weekly thing. John and Nick's basement is the best place for them and everyone has a blast when they put one on. The Red Party party was super awesome as was all the other events that weekend and all of them this weekend. I've been having a good time living recently and I like being able to say that.

Other music that i've been feeling recently:

Paperazzi (Springflake Pop Orchestral Remix) - Lady Gaga
This is a kinda downtempo remix of an alternate version gaga recorded. I really like it. props to Colin who put me onto it.

Spin (Russ Chimes Big House Remix) - Cassette Kids
Russ Chimes can do no wrong in my book. The synth lines he comes up with always fit the song perfectly and this is no exception. This one is probably even bumpin enough to play at a party. I would be so excited if someone came up to me and said, "Let me spin a little record for you baby," with that attitude.

Mouthful of Diamonds - Phantogram
A fun ethereal electronic jam. You'll probably like its mellowness...because it's mellow.

This Momentary (LightsoverLA remix) - Delphic
Another sad/happy joint. It's pretty mellow but also haunting. I guess that's what I'm into these days.

Enjoy those. I'll post a mellow dubstep list later on in the week. I have most of them now, but these 4 are enough for tonight.
"Let me spiiiiiyannnn oh!"

BONUS
Here...I like this one too so you can have it as a +1. It's also pretty chill but is a cool take on a ratatat song you probably know and love.

Rising Sun (The Boog-A-Loo Crew Remix) ("Gettysburg" Ratatat)
- DRT

18 févr. 2010

Electronic Music

Ever since I heard Digital Love in 7th grade on that ski trip in Switzerland, I have been pretty excited about electronic music. However, it isn't until recently that I think I've found a group that conveys the same feelings to me. I posted an Anoraak song last week as the bonus. But it's way more than that. It'll help you through the loneliest feeling days by making you feel comfortable in your loneliness...go figure. The power of song is really incredible. So get that one if you didn't before and I have some others to throw up here.

These are way more upbeat than Make It Better, and so naturally I like them at least equally...as i am an upbeat person in general. I hope you enjoy. And I hope you check out Anoraak. Cause they rock.

Teenage Color (Anoraak Remix) - College
Awesome instrumental.

Reborn (Anoraak Remix) - Fact
Kinda like an 80's metal song turned super pop electro. Enjoy.

And that is all i will post so you can check out Anoraak and get their shit at a store or another site. But real talk, get these songs.

Peace
